Maple Grades

First Grade

First Grade Maple includes only boards that are free of any discoloration or distinguishing marks. This grade yields a court surface with the most visually uniformity.

First Grade Maple

Second and Better Grade

By far the most popular grade option, second and better grade maple creates an aesthetically unique court by blending some boards with visible grain marks and others that are unmarked.

Second and Better Grade Maple

Third Grade

Third grade maple is the least expensive of the ClutchCourt maple grades. A majority of the boards included in this grade have distinguishing marks and unique grains, creating a court with distinct character.

SmartEdge™ Technology

A shift in stance. A pattern of movement. A glance to the side. A smart athlete will use subtle signs to know what their opponent will do. Then comes the dramatic block, a steal, or the rebound that safeguards the lead. Read your opponent, make a plan, and take action. That’s playing smart. That’s how you win.

When it comes to hardwood courts, our opponent is humidity. We know exactly what it will do. Fluctuations in humidity will cause hardwoods to expand and contract. High humidity puts lateral pressure on planks to make them buckle. Low humidity will cause cracks and gaps as hardwoods shrink. So, now that we know what we are up against, what do we do? Play smart.

SmartEdge™ is a small 1/64” precision milled bead along the edge of each ClutchCourt maple plank. The design anticipates the forces humidity will cause and creates a built-in tolerance that absorbs the movement. SmartEdge™ will keep planks more aligned and consistent even in the face of seasonal humidity changes.

You know your opponent. You know what it will do. Now play smart with a ClutchCourt maple floor and SmartEdge™ Technology.
