As part of The Tarkett Group, we play our part in helping to keep over 60,000 tons of material out of landfills each year. Sustainability isn’t something new at Tarkett. We started recycling flooring 50 years ago, before most companies were even giving it a thought. Today, we own and operate the only recycling plant in the industry that recycles sport flooring, a facility that is often used to convert used floors that were installed by us and our competitors!
Remaining committed to sustainability, we’re constantly on the lookout for better raw materials, ways to use less energy and resources, and new ways to reclaim and recycle our used flooring. Our goal is to build better sports flooring. Flooring that enables our customers to balance the impact on the earth, their people, and their budgets. Those are the floors of the future. Sustainable floors that help us all live in balance.
Leaders in Environmental Protection
We’ve been a leader in environmental manufacturing and the development of sustainable products for decades by doing four things: using better materials, consuming less resources, creating people-friendly spaces, and reclaiming products at the end of their life cycle.
Better Materials
Whenever we have the opportunity to use renewable resources, we do.
Our EcoPure is made from linseed oil, wood flour, and cork. Our ClutchCourt line is manufactured using the most responsibly managed foresting practices. Our Omnisports, Resicore, and Dropzone flooring lines are all made using recycled materials.
Resource Stewardship
Since 1999, we’ve reduced our total organic emission by up to 50 percent and cut our water consumption and our non-recycled waste by no less than 30 percent. Using fewer resources is good for the environment and the bottom line. It’s a win-win, and a powerful incentive to invest in better, smarter technologies.
People Friendly Spaces
We design floors that help make athletes, coaches and facility managers more productive.. We strive to produce sports flooring that is easy to maintain and less chemically demanding. As a result, our sports flooring helps to improve our carbon footprint and indoor air quality.
Reuse and Recycle
By reusing and recycling both pre-consumer and post-consumer product, we are helping to secure a better, more sustainable future. At Tarkett, recycling is an ideal that has been ingrained in our culture for over 50 years. We recycled the first PVC homogenous floor back in 1957. Five years later we pioneered the recycling of heterogeneous flooring and that was just the beginning. In 2003, we introduced the first post-installation recycling program in North America called ReUse. We continuously search for ways to use more recycled content at the beginning and reclaim more content for recycling at the end without compromising the quality or performance of our products.
